LinkedIn vs. Plaxo

By Josh | June 18, 2008

I just came across a great post about the two online contact record/networking tools, LinkedIn and Plaxo. After reading it, my choice is obvious… LinkedIn is more powerful. You can read it below:

LinkedIn vs. Plaxo: Is LinkedIn winning? by ZDNet’s David Berlind — Are you using LinkedIn, Plaxo, Orkut, or one of the umpteen contact management or Six-Degrees of Kevin Bacon-like business card exchanges? If there’s someone you need an introduction to through someone else you know, chances are pretty good that you know the right people to make that introduction happen. Revolutionary Advertising Example

By Josh | June 18, 2008

Being an entrepreneur causes me to always be on the lookout for ‘best practices’ in business and see tactics and strategies that are effective and results focused very easily. I saw an amazing ad that is compelling, delivers an amazing USP (Unique Selling Proposition) and can be stated in under 10 seconds in a way that any adult would understand completely. The company was Lifelock.com and is an identity theft prevention service.

Watch the commercial below:

In it you will see the following done amazingly well:
1. Powerful compelling USP that is short, clear and to the point (Our service is so good you can give your SS# out to the world and your identity is still protected meaning you will never have to worry about identity theft again)
2. Amazing guarantee that none of their competitors lead with. This will generate more business than any other promotion that they could ever think of.

Absolutely brilliant!

Amazing Blogging Tool

By Josh | June 18, 2008

I just came across the most amazing tool of all time to make writing blog posts about 1,000% easier. It’s called ScribeFire and works in the free FireFox web browser (which is much more user friendly and infinitely safer than plain old Internet Explorer). You download the free ScribeFire software and click on the link in the bottom right corner of FireFox after it’s installed. Click on the ‘blog wizard’ on the right side to enter your blog login info and you’re good to go.

When you get inspired to post something to your blog, simply click on the little paper and pencil icon in the bottom right corner of FireFox and an editor box pops up for you to enter a title and content to. It’s full featured with everything you’d need to publish a full post like any blog platform you currently use. You can have it post to different blogs you setup through the wizard and also select which category you want it to post under in the ‘Tags’ section of the editor. When you’re done, just click on ‘Publish’ at the bottom of the editor and the rest is history.

Free Tool To Convert File Types

By Josh | June 18, 2008

I’ve always felt that sending business documents in pdf format instead of word or excel looked and presented a more polished and professional image. It’s also much safer since the pdf’s cannot be edited very easily, nearly impossible for most users, and the formatting stays consistent across platforms, unlike word documents.

For a couple years now I’ve been using PrimoPdf which is a free program that converts any file type to pdf. They have an online version as well for those of you using computers that cannot download software to. It works well 95% of the time and is a great alternative to buying $200 software from Adobe.

I just stumbled upon another online tool that supersized what PrimoPdf could do. It’s called Zamzar and it not only converts to pdf, but it can convert to just about any other file type imaginable. It also converts audio and video files as well. It’s completely free, too!

The Most Dominating Lead Generation Strategy Ever

By Josh | June 18, 2008

Rich Schefren is an incredibly successful serial entrepreneur that has more successfully launched ventures than just about anyone I’ve ever studied. He is a master strategist that implements insanely well and is rewarded for doing so.

When he said there is one lead generation strategy or tactic that he values infinitely above the rest, I had to pay attention. Here’s his quick overview of it:

I’ve heard Jeff Walker present before and his methods are very effective as you heard Rich say in the video. Pay attention to Jeff and what he says as you launch new ventures and products. The right strategy is what separates the YouTubes from the rest of the wannabes.

Maximizing Your Income Through Leverage

By Josh | June 18, 2008

I just read a brilliant post by Rich Schefren on the value of leverage in your daily activities, primarily your business and relationships. After reading the post I had two major breakthroughs for our new venture, Credit Concierge, and know that they will produce exponential returns for us as we get out of the gate and to profitability.

I would encourage you to read the post and take a few minutes afterward assessing your current activities and how you may apply the concept of leverage to them to create exponentially greater gains. You can read it here: Leverage: Maximize Your Income In Minimum Time
